One merino sock for the whole year
Most sock drawers are split in two: thick wool socks for winter, thin cotton ones for summer. We designed one merino wool sock to replace both. Noticeably warmer than cotton when it's cold, drier than cotton when it's hot. Mid-rise, ribbed, thin enough for regular shoes, and the same pair works in January and July. That's the all-season promise.
The number one disappointment with merino socks, tackled
Anyone who has paid €25 for a pair of merino socks and found a hole in the toe three months later knows the frustration. Merino is a fine, soft fibre, and fine fibres wear through under the constant rubbing of a heel in a shoe. The wool isn't at fault; the construction is. So we reinforced our socks at the places where socks die: the entire footbed, the toe and the heel are reinforced with polyamide. The result is a durable merino sock that keeps the softness where your skin touches it and the strength where the shoe does. No sock lasts forever, but these last a great deal longer. They cost more than supermarket socks. They also outlast several pairs of them.
Why 57% merino beats 90%
It's tempting to pick the sock with the highest wool percentage on the label. Resist it. A sock that's 90% merino has almost nothing holding it together at the heel and will wear through fast. Ours are 57% merino wool, 39% polyamide and 4% elastane, and each fibre has a job. The merino sits against your foot and does what merino does: regulates temperature, moves moisture, kills odour. The polyamide carries the load in the high-wear zones. The elastane gives the fine rib its grip, so the sock stays up without squeezing your calf. More wool wouldn't make the sock better. It would make it shorter-lived.
What merino wool socks do for your feet
Feet sweat all day, and cotton socks hold on to all of it. That damp sock is what makes feet cold in winter, clammy in summer and prone to blisters on long days. Merino fibre absorbs moisture into its core and releases it to the outside, so the surface against your skin stays dry. Dry feet stay warm when it's cold, because water is what conducts the heat away, and stay cool when it's hot, because evaporation does the cooling. The same fibre traps the bacteria that cause odour and holds them until the wash, which is why a merino sock smells of nothing at the end of a long day. And because our merino is superfine, there's none of the itch people remember from old wool socks. Softer, drier, fresher, and fewer blisters: that's the case for wool socks in one paragraph.
Thin enough for dress shoes, tough enough for a hike
Hiking socks are wonderful in boots and hopeless in leather shoes. Dress socks look right but give up after a season. We wanted the gap between them: a merino dress sock with the sole of a technical sock. The fine rib and mid-rise height sit cleanly under trousers, the plain black, navy and grey go with everything, and the reinforced footbed means the same pair can go from the office to a weekend walk without complaint. Our customers wear them with loafers on Monday and trail shoes on Saturday.
Knitted in Italy by a technical sock specialist
Our socks are knitted in Italy at a factory whose day job is high-performance ski, running and hiking socks. That was deliberate. A demanding design with reinforced zones, ventilation panels and a fine rib in one thin sock needs machines and know-how that an ordinary hosiery mill doesn't have. We spent over a year testing and refining the design with their team before the first pair went on sale. The merino is certified to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), which covers animal welfare, land management and traceability from the farm to the finished sock.
Fit and sizing
The socks come in three sizes: 39/42, 43/46 and 47/49 (EU). The fit is snug by design, so the rib grips and the sock stays in place all day; if you're between sizes, take the larger one. Ventilation zones across the top of the foot let heat out where a shoe traps it, and the seamless toe closure means nothing rubs. Sizes are EU standard; the product pages carry the UK and US conversions.
