The benefits of Wolk merino wool shirts.
The ultimate 365-day fabric: Merino's adaptive thermoregulation means it works flawlessly all year round, keeping you cool in the heat, and it traps warmth when winter arrives.
Here is why it excels in the heat and all year round:
- No "Linen Chill": Unlike linen, which stays damp and freezes when you enter the AC, Merino regulates temperature seamlessly so you stay comfortable everywhere.
- Built-In Sun Protection: It naturally provides a UPF of 30 to 50+ (compared to just 5 to 15 for cotton or linen) without chemical treatments.
- No Sticky Feeling: Merino absorbs moisture vapor before it turns into liquid sweat, preventing that clammy, sticky feeling.
- Odor-Free: It naturally resists bacteria, keeping you fresh through hot commutes or long travel days.

FAQ- Merino wool shirt for men
Are the merino shirts scratchy? Do they feel like a traditional wool sweater?
Not at all. Wolk uses superfine, 17.5-micron Merino wool. The fibers are so thin they bend when they touch the skin. The innovative compact spinning technology makes the fibre smooth and sleek. The surface actually feels closer to silk than traditional wool and is sleeker than standard cotton.
Why is a merino wool shirt better than a cotton or a linen shirt?
- Merino wool is the ultimate temperature regulator in any season.
- It naturally wicks moisture and resists odours, unlike cotton's damp cling.
- Cotton gets heavy and cold when wet; lightweight Merino remains warm and dry.
- Choose Merino for superior comfort and performance in every environment.
- They barely wrinkle, which gives you a crisp look all day long.
Why are Wolk merino shirts more expensive than high-quality cotton or linen shirts?
You are investing in performance and technical mastery. Wolk skips the middleman to offer fair pricing on ZQ-certified, mulesing-free New Zealand wool that is woven by Italian experts and tailored responsibly in Portugal according to high European standards.
Because you wash it less, it lasts years longer, saves on water/energy, and replaces 3 or 4 traditional shirts in your wardrobe or travel bag.
How do I wash a merino shirt? Will it shrink if I put it in the machine?
Because we use "total easy care" merino wool you can wash it in a machine at 30°C on a gentle wool cycle, use liquid wool detergent, and always line dry, never hand wash and never tumble dry.
Because Merino is a natural fiber, you can expect a minor initial shrinkage of 1–3% after the first wash of our merino shirts. This is completely normal for woven merino wool and will only happen after the first wash.
Why should I use wool detergent for wool clothes?
Standard detergents contain harsh enzymes that can break down natural wool fibers.
Wool detergents are pH-neutral and enzyme-free, gently cleaning without damage.
This specialized care preserves the wool's softness, shape, and natural moisture.
Using the right detergent extends the life and performance of your garments.
Is 100% merino wool better than a merino blend?
Not necessarily—it depends entirely on what the shirt is designed to do.
About 99% of our collection is made from 100% pure Merino wool because we want you to experience the maximum natural benefits of the fiber. However, we selectively use blends when we want to achieve a specific feature that pure wool can’t manage on its own.
For example, our ultra-white shirts are blended with Tencel™ to achieve a crisp, bright white that pure wool simply cannot reach. Similarly, our everyday merino T-shirts feature a blend with 20% Nylon. Because pure Merino jersey is incredibly fine, adding a touch of nylon reinforces the fabric, preventing those annoying "micro-holes" and dramatically increasing the shirt's lifespan.
How do I know the size and fit of this merino shirt?
Wolk's merino shirts are designed with a sleek, tailored European silhouette. Our shirts come in three distinct fits: Slim, Regular, and Relaxed.
Check our merino shirt guide to have a better understanding of our shirt offer.
A few sizing notes:
- We use European sizing, which often runs smaller than UK, US, or German brands.
- Because the fabric will settle and shrink slightly (1–3%) after the first wash, it is highly recommended not to choose a tight fit.
- If you are right on the boundary between two sizes, or prefer a bit of breathing room, always size up.
- Use the Size Finder tool on each product page to compare your current garments to the correct Wolk size.
